Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the questions Scottish homeowners ask us about solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, surveys, quotes and how we work.
Frequently asked questions
Do solar panels work well in Scotland?
Yes. Modern solar panels generate electricity from daylight, including diffuse light on cloudy days, so they produce useful output across Scotland. A south, east or west-facing roof with minimal shading gives the best result, and a survey will confirm what to expect for your home.
How does a battery help if I already have solar panels?
A battery stores the electricity your panels generate during the day so you can use it in the evening or overnight instead of drawing from the grid. This increases how much of your own generation you actually use, rather than exporting it.
Are heat pumps suitable for older Scottish homes?
They can be. Heat pumps work best in well-insulated homes, so the first step is a survey that looks at your insulation, radiators and hot-water setup. For properties not yet ready for a full switch, a hybrid system pairing a heat pump with your existing boiler is an option.
Is there any obligation when I request a quote?
No. We arrange a no-obligation survey and quote. You decide whether to proceed with a paid installation — there is no pressure at any stage.
Do you carry out the installation yourselves?
We arrange surveys and quotes for paid installations. Installation is carried out by our MCS-certified partner. We install through MCS-certified partners.
What does 0% VAT mean for solar and batteries?
0% VAT applies to solar panels and battery storage until 31 March 2027. We can confirm how this applies to your quote when we put it together.
Is finance available?
Loans available, subject to status. We can discuss this as part of your quote.
Which areas of Scotland do you cover?
We arrange surveys and quotes across Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen, the Highlands, Borders and more. See our Areas Covered page for the full list of regions.
Do you quote for paid installations?
Yes. We quote for paid installations only, arranged through MCS-certified partners. You receive a clear quote and decide whether to proceed — no pressure at any stage.
