Renewable Energy Costs in Scotland

We do not publish invented prices or savings figures, because every Scottish home is different and a headline number would be misleading. Instead, here is an honest breakdown of what shapes the cost of each option, so you understand what is behind your no-obligation quote.

What shapes the cost of a renewable installation

  • Property size and energy use — A larger home with higher demand typically needs more solar capacity, a larger battery or a bigger heat pump, all of which influence the quote.
  • Roof and site conditions — Roof area, orientation, pitch and shading affect how much a solar array can generate. For heat pumps, available outdoor space and insulation matter most.
  • System size and components — The number of panels, battery capacity in kWh, heat pump output in kW and the inverter all shape the installation. We size each system to your home.
  • Existing heating and hot water — Switching to a heat pump may involve a hot-water cylinder or radiator changes. A hybrid system reuses your existing boiler, so disruption is lower.
  • Installation complexity — Scaffolding, roof access, internal wiring runs and whether work can happen in one visit all affect the work involved.
  • VAT and finance — 0% VAT applies to solar panels and battery storage until 31 March 2027. Loans available, subject to status. These are reflected in your quote.

What you can expect from us

We arrange a no-obligation survey at your home, assess your roof, insulation and energy use, and provide a clear written quote for the options that genuinely suit your property. There is no obligation, and no pressure to proceed. We quote for paid installations only.

Cost considerations by option

Solar Panels

Solar photovoltaic panels mounted on your roof convert daylight into electricity for your home. Modern panels perform well in diffuse light, so Scottish weather is less of a barrier than many homeowners assume.

Battery Storage

A home battery stores electricity generated by your solar panels or drawn from the grid at quieter times, so you can use it in the evening or overnight instead of buying from the grid.

Air Source Heat Pumps

An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air and concentrates it to warm your home and hot water. It runs on electricity and is an alternative to gas or oil boilers.

Solar Plus Battery

Combining solar panels with a battery lets you store the electricity you generate during the day and use it after dark, reducing how much you buy from the grid.

Hybrid Heating

A hybrid heating system pairs an air source heat pump with an existing gas or oil boiler, so the heat pump handles milder days and the boiler backs it up when demand is high.
